Race Day Information
Click here to download our comprehensive race pack.
All races start at 9:30am. Please arrive with plenty of time – race village opens at 07:15am.
One crucial detail we’d like to highlight is the race number collection. Race numbers will not be posted. You can collect your race number one week before the event at Runners Retreat (Marlow shop – 33 West St, Marlow SL7 2L), from Saturday 29th Oct to Saturday 4th Nov, or on the race day itself at Race HQ from 07:15am. We encourage you to plan your collection accordingly to make your race day experience as smooth as possible.
*To minimise the environmental impact of this year’s event, we are not including a T-shirt as standard, thus enabling us to significantly reduce our race entry fee.
Recognising that many of our runners would like a T-Shirt, we do have high quality long-sleeved T-Shirts with a 2023 design commemorating the 35th anniversary of the Marlow Half Marathon and the inaugural Frankenstein available for purchase.
Choose between a womens or mens/unisex fit. Fit and sizing charts are available here.
These are perfect for winter running! And available for a bargain £14 (retail price is IRO £25+)!
Pace Pockets are fabric wristbands with a storage pocket for all your running essentials, such as keys, cards, cash or gels, printed with your half marathon splits in either minutes per km or mile. Your Pace Pocket will be posted to you 10-12 days before the race. Select the time option closest to your half marathon target time to get the correct pacing chart. Please note these are being provided by a third party and your name and address (only) will be passed to them for delivery. Should you wish to change your target time between now and the race, and would like to swap for a different time, please email firstname.lastname@example.org at least two weeks before race day to advise of your new target time.
Book a sports massage for either before or after your race with a physio team provided by Horizon Sports Rehabilitation (https://horizonsportsrehab.co.uk/).
All proceeds are donated to our nominated charities and we’re very grateful for their support!
WEARING OF HEADPHONES
Bone-conducting Headphones are allowed. All other in ear Headphones/iPods/mp3 are prohibited. Our England Athletics race licence does not permit wearing of ‘regular in ear’ headphones on the course. You will be risking disqualification if you do – “The wearing of regular headphones, or similar devices, (other than those medically prescribed or bone conducting), is not permitted in races on any single carriageway road that is not wholly closed to traffic.”
Time allowed is 3 hours for all 3 races, which is generous, and the courses are considered achievable for most runners. There is a time limit of 2 hours to get to the 8 mile point on the Marlow Half Marathon course. Walking is viable for the Marlow 7 mile and Frankenstein races only
Drinks stations (water only. Paper cups will be provided) are situated at about 3.5, 7.5 and 10.5 miles around the Marlow Half Marathon course, and about the 3 and 4.5 miles for the Marlow 7 and Frankenstein. There will be drinks at the finish for all races.
Medical cover will be provided at the start, on the course at strategic locations and at the finish & race village.
Various photographers will be at the race village and on course to capture your race. Don’t forget to smile for the camera! More details will be posted on our Facebook page post event.
Parts of the course are open to traffic. Runners must keep to the left hand side of the road except where directed onto the right. This happens about two thirds of a mile after the final drinks station. IMPORTANT: Runners must comply with police and marshals’ instructions at all times.
Within half a mile of the finish, the course crosses the A4155 Henley Road into Pound Lane. This is a busy road. We have both a professional Traffic Management company (using STOP/GO signs to manage traffic) and highly experienced marshals in place managing the crossing. Please follow marshal instructions given at the crossing and ONLY use the official crossing point. Failure to do this, will result in you being disqualified from the race.
